SC/ST CELL

St. Bede’S College, Shimla is committed to fostering an inclusive academic environment that upholds the principles of diversity, equity, and social justice, regardless of caste, colour, gender, religion, or cultural background. In alignment with the vision of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the college is dedicated to safeguarding the interests of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) students. To ensure the creation and maintenance of a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment, the SC/ST Cell of the college plays a vital role in sensitizing the campus community about the importance of diversity and equality, and in supporting the welfare of SC/ST students in both academic and non-academic spheres.
Objectives of the Cell:

To counsel and guide SC/ST students studying at the college on academic and personal matters to help them meet their educational goals.
To ensure a safe and secure environment for all SC/ST students on the campus.
To provide timely counselling and support for grievances or concerns arising from any untoward incidents affecting SC/ST students.
To establish and maintain an effective mechanism for redressal of grievances or complaints received from SC/ST students.
To implement and monitor the reservation policy for SC/ST students as per UGC and Ministry of Education guidelines.
To offer assistance and support to SC/ST students in areas such as education, skill development, and employment opportunities.
To encourage and guide SC/ST students to apply for various national scholarships and pursue opportunities for higher education and professional advancement.
To deal with representations or issues related to admissions or other academic concerns raised by SC/ST students or applicants.
