The Department of Computer Science under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with TechnoledgeTM, organized a One Week Faculty Development Programme on “Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Outcome Based Education (OBE) Strategies” at St. Bede’s College from May 12 to May 18, 2026.
he resource person for the FDP was Dr. Ravi Prakash Verma, Professor and Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at IIMT College of Engineering. Through expert lectures and practical demonstrations, he highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI in transforming modern teaching-learning practices.
Faculty members from Government Degree College Kandaghat, Government Degree College Dhami and St. Bede’s College actively participated in the programme. The sessions focused on AI-enabled teaching methodologies, curriculum design, CO-PO mapping, innovative assessment techniques, and personalized learning strategies aligned with the objectives of National Education Policy 2020 and Industry 4.0 standards. |

The Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with the Cybersecurity Association of India, organized an online workshop on “Understanding Digital Safety & the DPDP Act for Faculty: Cybersecurity Awareness Initiative” under the aegis of IQAC on April 29, 2026, from 10:30 AM onwards.
The primary aim of the workshop was to sensitize faculty members about the growing importance of digital safety and to familiarize them with the provisions of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act. With increasing dependence on digital platforms in academic environments, ensuring data privacy and cybersecurity has become essential for educators. The resource person for the workshop was Nirmesh Kumar, a DSCI-certified Data Protection Officer with over 22 years of experience in Information Technology. Currently serving as Director at CMAI, he possesses extensive expertise in cloud computing and cybersecurity. The workshop served as a valuable platform for enhancing awareness about digital safety and the DPDP Act, equipping faculty members with essential knowledge to navigate the digital landscape securely and responsibly. |

During the session, Ms. Sharma elaborated on the significance of Content Management Systems (CMS) in modern web development. She also provided valuable insights into the working of WordPress and its practical applications in website creation and management.The lecture was highly informative and beneficial for the participants, enhancing their understanding of current trends and technologies in web development. |

Two-day workshop on “Digital Literacy and Accounting” under the aegis of IQAC was held at St Bede’s College on March 24-25, 2026 organised by the Department of Computer Science and Commerce and Management. The resource person for the same was Dr. Pratyush Guleria, Director, NIELET, Shimla. BBA and BCA students of St. Bede’s College along with students from Centre of Excellence and Convent of Jesus & Mary school participated in the workshop actively.
Workshop was organised to provide students with a hands-on training on Advance Excel and Tally. After the successful completion of the workshop, students were awarded certificates. A workshop on “Inside Artificial Intelligence: From Origins to Real-World Impact and Ethical Innovation” was organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) Regional Council RC-23, Himachal Pradesh under the mission “To Make Himachal Skillful.” The event was conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Technology Hamirpur and Department of Physics and Computer Science, St. Bede’s College Shimla.
The workshop took place on March 10, 2026 and aimed to provide students and participants with a deeper understanding of Artificial Intelligence, its development, applications, and ethical considerations in modern society.

The programme commenced with a semi-classical dance performance presented by students, followed by a PowerPoint presentation that explained the historical significance of International Women’s Day and highlighted the progress made by women across various fields such as science, education, leadership, and social service. Students also actively participated in a poetry recitation session and the most engaging segment of the programme was a role play based on the life and achievements of Kamala Sohonie, the first Indian woman to receive a Ph.D. in science. INTERCOLLEGE HACKATHON COMPETITION: TECH FEST |
An Intercollege Hackathon was successfully organized by the Hackathon and Ideation Cell of St. Bede’s College on February 28, 2026 to celebrate National Science Day. The event aimed to promote innovation, scientific thinking, and technological creativity among students from various colleges. The hackathon reflected the spirit of scientific curiosity and encouraged students to apply technology to solve real-world problems. A total of 12 teams from different colleges participated in the event. Students presented innovative solutions including software applications, IoT devices, robotics models, and smart environmental systems. The event provided a collaborative platform where young innovators could brainstorm ideas, develop prototypes, and present their solutions before an expert judging panel. The projects, and prototypes were carefully evaluated by the judges Dr.Nikhil Sharma and Dr.Tarun Sharma on the basis of innovation, feasibility, functionality, and presentation quality. The hackathon provided an opportunity for participants to learn from one another by exchanging ideas, discussing technologies, and exploring different approaches to solving problems. |

FREE MEDICAL AYURVEDIC CAMP |
On February 27, 2026, the Health Club of St. Bede's College, under the aegis of IQAC, organized a Free Medical Ayurvedic Camp in collaboration with BAMS doctors from Swasth Bharat Foundation Trust for the staff, students, and the general public. Dr. Osheen Dharmaik (Medical Officer) was the resource person for the awareness talk in which she highlighted women-related health issues and interacted with the staff and students, addressing their concerns and answering their queries. After the talk, the health check-up camp was commenced and the students, staff, and members of the general public were carefully examined. A total of 43 staff members, 72 students, and 8 members of the general public benefited from the camp. It proved to be highly useful and informative for all attendees |

MEDICINAL PLANT EXHIBITION |
An exhibition on medicinal plants was successfully organized by the Department of Botany in collaboration with Herbal Garden Cell on February 25, 2026 to celebrate National Science Day. The exhibition displayed a wide variety of medicinal plants commonly used in herbal medicine and traditional systems such as Ayurveda. Students collected different plant specimens, prepared informative charts, and arranged live plant samples to demonstrate their medicinal properties. Some of the important plants exhibited included Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi), Azadirachta indica (Neem), Aloe barbadensis ( Aloevera), Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha), and Curcuma longa (Turmeric). Each plant was accompanied by labels describing its scientific name, family, medicinal uses, and significance. To Celebrate National Science Day, The Department of Physics in collaboration with IAPT enthusiastically organised a series of engaging and educational activities. On February 24, 2026, the program commenced with the Screening of a Documentary on Sir C. V. Raman, highlighting his life journey, struggles, and the ground breaking discovery of the Raman Effect. Following the screening, a quiz competition based on the documentary was conducted. The session was interactive, intellectually stimulating, and witnessed enthusiastic involvement from the participants.Dr. Sapna Sharma, Head of the Department of Physics, delivered an inspiring talk on the theme “Unsung Heroes of Science.” She shed light on lesser-known women scientists whose remarkable contributions have significantly shaped scientific progress.
An Exhibition of working models prepared by students of the Physics Department was another highlight of the celebration. The models demonstrated various scientific principles and reflected the students’ creativity, teamwork, and practical understanding of theoretical concepts. The Principal of the college, Dr. (Sr.) Rosily T.L, addressed the gathering and encouraged students to cultivate a scientific mind set.
On February 28, 2026, a Webinar was organized with the objective to celebrate India’s scientific achievements and to deliberate upon the role of women in shaping the scientific landscape of the country. The session began with National Science Day greetings, followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. Sapna Sharma. Dr. Y. C. Kamala, an experienced physics educator, and Prof. P. K. The Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-198) |
A total of 18 cadets from NCC Unit, St. Bede’s College actively participated in the camp. Cadets showcased talent in cultural events like group dance, group song, duo performances, and in sports like basketball and kho-kho. They secured 1st position in group dance, 2nd in group song, and won the Best Cultural Program Overall. Cadets also displayed discipline and teamwork through their participation in drill and guard competitions. |

FALUN DAFA |
The Health Club of St. Bede’s College organized an International Workshop on Falun Dafa (an ancient meditation practice) on 10th July 2025, in association with the Falun Dafa Association of India and in collaboration with IKS and Bhasha. The session was conducted by resource person Christiane Teich, who effectively interacted with students and explained the origin, techniques, and benefits of Falun Dafa. Participants were guided through 10 basic meditation exercises, making the workshop highly engaging and practical. Visual aids were also used to further explain the benefits of the practice. The session concluded with words of appreciation by the Principal, Sister Rosily. More than 150 students along with 14 teaching and non-teaching staff attended the workshop, which proved beneficial for enhancing physical and mental well-being |

The first at Nauni, Solan from and the second at Ropar, Punjab from 11th July to 20th July 2025. The camp provided an opportunity to learn new skills, enhance abilities, and experience NCC training in a disciplined environment. Key activities included: Judging distance and understanding field signals – techniques useful in the field for silent communication. Tent pitching – Cadet Aditi Singh from St. Bede’s College attended the Thal Sainik Camp (TSC) held in two phases – practical survival training involving teamwork and efficiency in setting up shelters. |

International Workshop on International Olympic Day |
The National Sports Organization (NSO), in collaboration with the UGC Cell, organized an International Online Workshop on June 23, 2025, to celebrate International Olympic Day under the theme “Let’s Move Together for More Motivation, Community and Joy.” The workshop was conducted on the Google Meet platform, with Prof. Jomar B. Esto from Southern Mindanao University, Philippines, as the resource person and Dr. Vishanth (GAPEY, Coimbatore) as the moderator. Dr. Ashwani Kumar served as the convener, while the College Principal, Dr. (Sr.) Rosily T.L., formally welcomed the speakers. The faculty members of St. Bede’s College participated in an eight-day online programme titled “NEP-2020 Orientation & Sensitization Programme,” held from June 2 to June 10, 2025. The programme was organized under Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, with registration facilitated through the UGC-MMTTC Portal (Training Programme ID: MMC-034-2025-JUN-A-03770). The resource person for the session was Dr. Shruti Gupta (Department of Biotechnology, St. Bede’s College, Shimla) who conducted an engaging session and interacted closely with the participants. She explained how to produce compost from kitchen waste and other organic plant matter, providing a step-by-step procedure for the process. The vital role of microorganisms in compost formation was also discussed. The initiative encouraged the diversion of kitchen and plant waste from local litter points to productive organic manure. |

On February 7, 2025, IInd Year, NCC cadets of St. Bede’s College under 7 HP (I) Coy NCC Shimla underwent the NCC Practical Examination held at Rajiv Gandhi Government College, Shimla. The exam encompassed various components such as drill test, field craft and battle craft, map reading, weapon training and communication. The practical exam concluded with an interview session conducted by the Commanding Officer of 7 HP (I) Coy NCC Shimla. On February 8th, 2025 the cadets sat for the written examination for the BEE certificate at Rajiv Gandhi Government College, Shimla, further demonstrating their dedication to their NCC training and certification process. |
