EIGHT-DAY NEP-2020 ORIENTATION & SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME

St. Bede’s College, Shimla, in collaboration with UGC–Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (UGC-MMTTC), Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and Sri Sai University, Palampur, successfully organised an Eight-Day NEP-2020 Orientation and Sensitization Programme held from 31 August to 9 September 2026.
The programme was designed to sensitise faculty members to the transformative vision of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, its major provisions, implementation dimensions, and the emerging priorities of higher education. Dr. Meenakshi, Assistant Professor Sri Sai University, Palampur served as the Coordinator and Dr. Shweta Thakur Assistant Professor St. Bede’s College served as the Co-Coordinator of the programme.
With more than 85 participants joining online, the programme featured two technical sessions each day from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., bringing together distinguished academicians, educational leaders, researchers and experts from reputed institutions across India.

The programme provided participants with diverse academic perspectives on the transformation envisaged by NEP 2020. The sessions emphasized the transition from conventional, discipline-bound and knowledge-heavy approaches towards learner-centred, competency-based, multidisciplinary, inclusive and technology-enabled education.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of preparing students for a rapidly changing world through skill development, digital literacy, interdisciplinary learning, innovation, research, global competencies and lifelong learning.
The emphasis on faculty well-being, academic leadership and inclusive education further reinforced the role of educators in creating supportive, ethical, equitable and future-ready learning environments.
The programme concluded with a session on Academic leadership, followed by MCQ Tests conducted to assess participants’ understanding and learning from the programme.
Dr. Shalini Kashmiria, Assistant Director, UGC-MMTTC, briefed participants about the test guidelines, procedures and requirements to be fulfilled for eligibility for the programme certificate.
