    ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

    The Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) is a course of two years duration affiliated to the H.P. Board of School Education. Eligibility for admission to the course is atleast 50% marks in 10+2 for General Category candidates and atleast 45% marks for the candidates belonging to the reserved categories. Admission to the course is on the basis of a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the H.P. Board of School Education every year. Successful candidates are allotted seats to the Training Colleges through Counseling held by the Board.

    The D.Ed Education Department of St. Bedes college has got it's recognition from the NCTE on date 26th December 2000. The national council for teachers education as a statutory body came into existence in pursuance of the national council for teachers education Act, 1993 on 17th August,1995. The main objective of the NCTE is to achieve planned and coordinated development of the teacher education system throughout the country, the regulation and proper maintenance of norms and standards in the teacher education system and for matters connected to therewith.

    To provide academic and resource support from the grass-root level for the success of various strategies and programs being undertaken in all areas of education.

    Building a generation of excellent teachers fired with a spirit of service and higher values.

    CURRICULUM STRUCTURE

    The content of the D.El.Ed. Program me has the potential to prepare the trainees to handle effectively the elementary school curriculum from standard I to VIII. The major function of the course is to enable the prospective teachers to develop insight in to priorities and problems of learning processes and to equip the trainees to organize teaching learning.

    Practice teaching is undertaken by the D.El.Ed. students in different Govt. schools every year during their course.
